Notwithstanding GIC Re`s strong risk-adjusted capitalization, change in fair value reserves could result in significant volatility due to company`s high level of equity investments. Regulatory changes could increase competition for GIC Re in its domestic market. However amendments are still evolving, and the impact on GIC Re remains to be seen.
- Positive rating momentum could result from a consistent improvement in GIC Re`s underwriting performance, especially in its overseas business.
- Negative rating momentum could result from an unexpectedly large decline in risk adjusted capitalization as a result of adverse fair value movements and a deteriorating trend in overall results.

- GIC Re作为印度政府全资拥有的企业的评级因素、GIC Re作为唯一国营再保险商在印度保险业中的地位、良好偿付能力状况及充足的流动资金.
- GIC Re is wholly owned by GoI and it is the sole national reinsurer. Apart from the domestic operations, GIC Re has overseas offices namely, representative office in Moscow and branch offices in London, Dubai and Malaysia. GIC Re also has presence in Bhutan through its joint venture, GIC Bhutan Re (GIC Re holds 26% stake) and in South Africa through its wholly owned subsidiary, GIC Re South Africa Limited. GIC Re is present in various segments of which major segments are fire, health, motor and marine.
- GIC Re reported a PAT of Rs.2,694 crore on Gross Premium Written (GPW) of Rs.15,184 crore in FY15 as against a PAT of Rs.2,253 crore on GPW of Rs.14,680 crore during FY14. Of the total GPW of Rs.15184 crore, 57% is attributable to domestic business and 43% to foreign business. In 9MFY16, the company reported a PAT of Rs.1,637 crore on Gross Premium Written of Rs.12,671 crore. Solvency margin stood at 3.04 times as on March 31, 2015 and at 3.52 times as on December 31, 2015.

公司简史:在1972年,印度的整体一般保险业被《一般保险业(国有化)法令》(GIBNA)予以国有化。
印度政府通过国有化收购了55家印度保险公司的股份以及52家经营一般保险业的保险公司的业务。
General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC)公司是根据GIBNA法令的9(1)条而成立。
它在1956年成立为私营股份有限公司,并在1972年11月22日根据公司法成立为股份有限公司。
GIC的成立目的,是要监督、控制及经营一般保险业务。
GIC成立不久,印度政府即将其持有的一般保险公司的全部股份都转让给 GIC。
与此同时,被国有化的业务则被转让给了一些印度保险公司。
当一些印度保险公司进行合并之后,有四家公司存留下来成为GIC的全资拥有子公司,分别是
- National Insurance Company Limited。
- New India Assurance Company Limited。
- Oriental Insurance Company Limited。
- United India Insurance Company Limited。
下一件具里程碑意义的事件发生于2000年4月19日,当天在1999年通过的《保险监管及开发局法令》(Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act,英文缩写 (IRDAA))正式生效。
此法令也引入了对GIBNA法令及1938年的《保险法令》进行的修改。有一项针对GIBNA法令的修正案消除了GIC及其子公司在印度独营一般保险业务的的特权。
在2000年11月,GIC的公司类型被改为印度再保险公司(Indian Reinsurer),而且,根据行政命令,GIC对四家子公司的监督角色宣告结束。
随着2002年的《一般保险业务(国有化)修正法令》(General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Amendment Act 2002)(2002年40号)于2003年3月21日生效,GIC不再是其子公司的控股公司。
那四家昔日子公司及General Insurance Corporation of India公司的拥有权都归属于印度政府。

Features incorporated in Ministry of External Affairs website to make it easily accessible are:
- Skip to Main Content: Quick access to the core content on the page is provided without going through repetitive navigation using the keyboard.
- Go to Navigation: Quick access to the main Navigation on the page is provided without going through repetitive navigation using the keyboard.
- Descriptive Link Text: Brief description of a link is provided using descriptive phrases instead of just using words such as 'Read more' and 'Click here' as link text. Further, if a link opens a Website in a new window, the description specifies the same.
- Identification of file type and file size: Information about alternate file types, such as PDF, Word, Excel along with the file size has been provided within the link text to help users identify the same. In addition, icons for different file types have been provided with the links. This helps users in deciding whether they wish to access the link. For example, if a link opens a PDF file, the link text specifies its file size and file type.
- Table Headers: The table headings are marked and associated with their corresponding cells in each row. This enables a screen reader to read out the column and row header of any cell for the user.

- Explicit Form Label Association: A label is linked to its respective control, such as text box, check box, radio button, and drop-down list. This enables the assistive devices to identify the labels for the controls on a form.
- Form instructions and errors: Instruction text and error messages for forms are displayed dynamically i.e. while the user is navigating the form and filling up the form. To make this information available to users including screen reader users, ARIA techniques have been used. To ensure users are able to access this important form information, help for the same has been provided.
- Consistent Navigation Mechanism: Consistent means of navigation and style of presentation throughout the Website has been incorporated.
- Keyboard Support: The website can be browsed using a keyboard by pressing the Tab and Shift + Tab keys.
- Customized Text Size: The size of the text on the Web pages can be changed either through the browser, through the Accessibility Options page or by clicking on the text sizing icons present at the top of each page.
